No-exam life insurance

Who becomes eligible, the process of rapid underwriting, and what happens for those who don't qualify.

Today many carriers use fast-track underwriting: within specific age brackets and amount caps, they approve applicants using their application, pharmacy data, and driving history instead of sending a paramedical examiner. Approvals may arrive within hours. This site shows whether each product requires an exam, might require one, or needs none.

What it changes

Accelerated underwriting still includes verification of your statements. If a policy was issued based on inaccurate information, the carrier can dispute it within the first two years. Should the carrier's records raise concerns, they might request an exam or testing; the decision to proceed is yours.

Who tends to qualify

Generally, applicants younger than age 60 seeking coverage below the carrier's accelerated limit, with no significant prior health conditions and no tobacco use within the past year, qualify. Some carriers approve recent lab results from doctor visits instead of a new exam.

Should an exam be required, it typically lasts 20 to 30 minutes and involves a paramedical technician visiting your Fremont home or workplace at no charge. For applicants in good health, the results frequently lead to a better rate tier, making the exam a potential advantage rather than a setback.
